Yes. IPL treatments cannot be provided during the summer months or directly before or after a sun-filled vacation. If you live in Oakland County, Michigan near Clarkston or Lake Orion, the ideal timing for this treatment is late fall, winter and early spring.

There is very little pain, if any, during your IPL treatment. We do not apply any numbing agents prior to this procedure because it is important that you can feel the sensation of the laser to give your practitioner feedback if it becomes too hot for your skin.

It’s important to be well hydrated for three to five days leading up to your appointment because the IPL technology looks for the water in your skin’s fibroblasts. You can also apply the De|Tox serum provided by your Refresh & Renew practitioner for five days prior to your appointment to optimize your results.

You can expect your skin to appear red and feel slightly warm for about an hour after your treatment has ended. If you’re treating dark spots, they will initially get darker and have a “peppered” look that lasts for about seven to 10 days, at which time your skin sheds this top layer to reveal lighter and brighter skin.

The number of sessions varies considerably based on reason for treatment, skin type and other factors. Most clients achieve their desired results after one to six sessions.
